Classes help folks apply for retirement benefits online

The Social Security Administration will host free classes in Kane'ohe and Kapolei to help people apply for retirement benefits online.

Residents who are within three months of age 62 or older are eligible to apply.

The classes are from 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 19 at Windward Community College, Kuhina Room 102, and from 6 to 7 p.m. Sept. 23 at Kapolei Public Library, 1020 Manawai St.

The workshops include a presentation of Social Security benefits, a demonstration on applying online and a question and answer session.

Windward Community College will have computers available for people to sign up there. Residents should bring direct deposit information such as their bank routing number and account number.
