Freedom walk scheduled for Friday

More than 1,500 will participate Friday in the 2009 Freedom Walk, memorializing the events of 9/11.

The mile and a half walk is organized by Operation Homefront of Hawaii and will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event is open to the public and takes place at the Dept. of the Navy’s ball field by Valkenburg and Main Street.
More than 1,300 students and faculty from the Holy Family Catholic Academy and Chester Nimitz Elementary School will participate.
Other participants include the Honolulu Airport’s TSA personnel, Fire Department, Police Department, VFW and other veterans, Operation Homefront volunteers and other members of the community.
