Ports 1961 a walk on the beach

By MEGAN K. SCOTT
Associated Press

NEW YORK — Ports 1961 took a nature walk Thursday, presenting a spring collection of drapey but womanly pieces in seashore colors like coral, sand, white pearl and gray.

In fact, aside from one or two pieces, the starkest color was on the models’ eyelids: red.
Creative director Tia Cibani drew inspiration from “the ephemeral beauty of nature,” according to the notes, offering “a glimpse into a gossamer ##ear some of her influence came from the Orient.
One sheath dress was paired with a matching "cloud" (ivory colored) coat. A chainmail cardigan sleeveless sweater vest was worn over a draped jersey dress. And a tie-dye dress with a boat neck and drapey short sleeves looked like an elegant beach cover up.
A few of the pieces had a high-gloss finish such as a pair of aluminum-colored trousers and a pink sleeveless dress that gave off a shimmer as the model walked.
Outerwear pieces, such as a marble colored print satin Kimono with flowy sleeves, were wrapped around the body, like a cocoon. Accessories included wide cinch waist bamboo and clear plastic belts and light-on-your-feet organza ballet flats.
