A mixed martial arts event featuring two unbeaten fighters as its main event will be held tomorrow at Blaisdell Arena.

The event is promoted by UPNUP Extreme Cage Fighting and will be the first fights on O'ahu to be sanctioned under the new state legislation (went into effect July 1) in which the promoter has to pay state fees and be required to have physicians at the event and have their fighters pass physicals.

Highlighting the bouts will be Hawai'i's top-ranked fighter, Brandon Visher (15-0) from Kula, Maui, against undefeated Strikeforce veteran, Issac De Jesus (11-0) from Stockton, Calif.

"I expect him to come into this fight in shape, strong and ready to leave undefeated but I'm willing to do the same," said Visher in a press release. "Hopefully he brings it. ... let's hope he's ready for a warm 808 welcome."

Said De Jesus: "I'm undefeated and I don't want to lose."

Other bouts include Hawai'i's Mark Oshiro, a veteran of EliteXC and Icon Sport, fighting Felipe Chavez, a younger relative to the UFC fighter Diego Sanchez; and undefeated Koa Ramos battling Dylan Clay in a battle of highly regarded Hawai'i fighters.

In another fight, Harris Sarmiento, an MMA veteran, will fight Michael Brightmon, who is unbeaten. Sarmiento has a fight resume that includes bouts with Nick Diaz, KJ Noons, Roger Huerta, Shane Nelson, Gilbert Melendez, Josh Thomson and Billy Evangelista.

Tickets start from $15 and are on sale at the Blaisdell Arena box office, all Times Supermarket locations (800-745-3000), and Ticketmaster online (www.Ticketmaster.com).
