Fujikawa tied for 55th in Utah golf

Advertiser Staff and Wire

Hawai'i's Tadd Fujikawa shot a 1-under-par 70 yesterday and was tied for 55th place after the opening round of the Nationwide Tour's Utah Championship at Sandy Utah.

Fujikawa, a Moanalua High graduate, had three bogeys and two birdies en route to a 1-over 36 on the front nine. He rallied with two birdies — both on par-3s — coming in for a 2-under 34.

The 18-year-old Fujikawa is playing in his second Nationwide tournament this year. He finished tied for 15th place with a 13-under 271 total at the Cox Classic in Omaha, Neb., in July.

Alistair Presnell tied the course record at Willow Creek Country Club with an 8-under-par 63 yesterday for the first-round lead. Fellow Australians David McKenzie and Andrew Buckle share second with 64s, while Josh Teater and Craig Bowden are tied for fourth at 65.
