Amanda Visell's designs for Zakkamono are a far cry from the duo's previous, jet-setting look.

Zakkamono's vinyl collectible Miao and Mousubi duo have shed their 2008 custom Tokidoki designs and, well, Miao has packed on some pounds.

Unlike his jet-setting predecessor, who spent last summer traipsing through Tokyo, Los Angeles and Hong Kong, this limited-edition Miao, as imagined by the whimsical Los Angeles artist Amanda Visell, hasn't left the house for years. In fact, Visell's Fat Cat Miao has been been held captive by his appetite for so long that he's too big to fit out his front door — so he's called on his sidekick Cheese Mousubi to help him get into shape.

The vinyl maneki neko lucky cat and triangle mousubi set was created by Sanford Mock — aka Zakka — and debuted last summer sporting designs by Tokidoki creator Simone Legno. Now they have new threads, a backstory and a new mission, as detailed on the box the collectibles come in.

The 400 recently released Fat Cat Miao and Cheese Mousubis can be purchased at zakka mono.com, Prototype at Pearlridge Center and from some online retailers for about $80. Customizable blanks are also available from www.zakkamono.com.
