Candlelight vigil, prayer walk scheduled today for Iris Rodrigues-Kaikana

Advertiser Staff

A candlelight vigil and prayer walk will be held today at 5 p.m. at the Kalihi Kamehameha Homes on North King Street in memory of Iris Rodrigues-Kaikana, the teenager who was found dead Aug. 24 in a pedestrian alley next to the housing project.

Rodrigues-Kaikana, 18, was found dead in an alley next to the housing complex. The McKinley High School graduate was strangled and police later arrested Corbit Ahn on a murder charge.
Expected to take part in today's event are state Rep. John Mizuno, Yuki Kobayashi, the Honolulu Police Department and the family of Rodrigues-Kaikana. The family requested that the vigil be held where Rodrigues-Kaikana was found and that the area be blessed.
The public is invited to attend and is asked to bring candles. Parking will be available at Farrington High School. For information, call Mizuno at 586-6050.
