New University of Hawai'i President M.R.C. Greenwood will use the 2009 convocation awards ceremony to deliver her first address to the university community.

The ceremony is set for 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Kennedy Theatre on the UH-Manoa campus. It is open to the public.

The convocation ceremony honors more than 40 faculty and staff from the university's 10 campuses with various teaching, research and service awards.

They include the Regents' Medal for Excellence in Teaching, the Regents' Medal for Excellence in Research and the Willard Wilson Award for Distinguished Service to the University.

Greenwood took over as president last month, succeeding David McClain, who received the honorary title of president emeritus. She is a former leader in the University of California system.
