A 20-year-old man was in critical condition after being struck by another man outside a Waikiki nightclub late Saturday night, police said.

The man was escorting Dirk Recopuerto, of a Young Street address, out of the nightclub at 11:05 p.m. when a scuffle between the two occurred, police said.

Recopuerto, 41, allegedly tried to re-enter the Kuhio Avenue nightclub. He allegedly struck the 20-year-old man, who sustained head injuries and was taken in critical condition to The Queen's Medical Center.

Police arrested Recopuerto on charges of assault in the second degree.
