Two men were in custody and a 28-year-old Kapa'a man was airlifted to Straub Clinic & Hospital in Honolulu Sunday after an altercation early that morning, Kaua'i officials said.

The injured man was reported in stable condition at Straub.

Kaua'i police arrested two male suspects from Kailua, Kona, on suspicion of second-degree assault. They were unable to post bail, Kaua'i officials said.

The incident occurred about 1:58 a.m. Sunday morning on a footbridge between Duke's Canoe Club and Kalapaki Beach in Lihu'e.
