A public meeting on a planned memorial in Kalaupapa, Moloka'i, for those who lived and died in the Hansen's disease settlement is set for Friday at Kaumakapili Church on North King Street in Kalihi.

The gathering is the first in a series that will be held statewide.

The Kaumakapili meeting will start at 6 p.m. at the church, 766 N. King St., and will include a scoping session for the planned memorial.
