A 24-year-old Lahaina woman died Sunday night after the Honda Accord she was driving crossed the center line on North Kihei Road and collided head-on with an oncoming truck in Ma'alaea, police said.

Elitisi Tuivailala died at the scene, police said. One of the occupants in her vehicle was in critical condition at Maui Memorial Medical Center, while another was treated and released.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 33-year-old Lahaina man, was transported to The Queen's Medical Center on O'ahu in stable condition for surgery that could not be done at Maui Memorial, police said.

The other five occupants of the truck were treated and released. All passengers were in the truck's extended cab, police said.
