Nobel laureate to speak today at legislative briefing on violence

Betty Williams, recipient of the 1976 Nobel Peace Prize, will deliver the keynote speech at an informational briefing on solutions to violence today at the state Capitol.

The briefing will take place at 10 a.m. in Room 325 of the Capitol.
Williams, one of the founders of the Community of Peace People in Northern Ireland, will discuss her life, ideas for overcoming violence and her support for the installation of Carl Fredrik Reutersward's "Non-Violence" statue in Hawaiçi.
The briefing, conducted by state Rep. John Mizuno, is intended to address the rise of violent crime in Hawaiçi by providing information on reporting violence and identifying agencies that report violence and work with victims.
