CFB: No. 8 Boise State loses RB Harper for season

By TODD DVORAK
Associated Press Writer

BOISE, Idaho — Boise State running back D.J. Harper will miss the rest of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Harper was injured in Friday’s 51-34 victory over Fresno State when he was smothered in the backfield late in the game.
Harper is one of two tailbacks who share carries for the No. 8 Broncos (3-0) and rushed for 292 yards and three touchdowns on 44 carries.
Coach Chris Petersen says the junior is undergoing tests Monday, will likely have surgery this week and should be eligible to redshirt this season.
Petersen says Harper will be replaced by Doug Martin, who also has played on defense this season.
Jeremy Avery is the Broncos’ leading rusher with 297 yards on 45 carries.
