Betty Williams, recipient of the 1976 Nobel Peace Prize, will deliver the keynote speech at today's informational briefing on solutions to violence at the state Capitol.

The briefing is scheduled for 10 a.m. in Room 325 of the state Capitol.

Williams, one of the founders of the Community of Peace People in Northern Ireland, will discuss her life, ideas for overcoming violence and her support for the installation of Carl Fredrik Reutersward's "Non-Violence" statue in Hawai'i.

The briefing, conducted by state Rep. John Mizuno, is intended to address the rise of violent crime in Hawai'i by providing information on reporting violence and identifying agencies that report violence and work with victims.
