Kaneohe woman arrested on suspicion of forgery

Advertiser Staff

A 41-year-old Kaneohe woman was arrested yesterday in connection with an incident at a Kaneohe restaurant in April in which she allegedly ordered food and drinks and then tried to use a forged check to pay for the meal.

Restaurant employees told police the woman finished eating and was getting ready to pay with a personal check she had filled out.
A waitress told the woman she could not pay with a personal check unless her name appeared on the check.
Employees told police the waitress called her supervisor to the tale, at which point the woman who was being questioned about the check said her husband was the account holder and showed his passport.
The restaurant employees said they then asked the woman for her own identification and she told them she left it in her car. They said the woman said she was going to her car to retrieve her ID cards, but drove away instead.
Police said the restaurant employees were able to later identify the woman in a photographic lineup. Police located the woman yesterday and arrested her on suspicion of forgery and unauthorized control of personal confidential information.
