NHL: Sore groin keeps Crosby out of practice again

Associated Press

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby didn't practice for a second consecutive day because of a sore groin, and it appears unlikely he will play in an exhibition game in Detroit today.

Crosby took to the ice Saturday and plans to skate again Sunday, but coach Dan Bylsma said there was no reason to push Crosby for a game that doesn't count.

Crosby was injured early in the Penguins' exhibition game against Columbus on Thursday night.

Bylsma said the team will make a decision after Crosby tests the injury in the morning.

The Stanley Cup champion Penguins open the season Friday at home against the New York Rangers.
