Advertiser Staff

Notre Dame freshman linebacker Manti Te'o, a Punahou alum from La'ie, started in today's 24-21 victory over Purdue at West Lafayette, Ind.

Te'o finished with one tackle, a 12-yard sack of Purdue quarterback Joey Elliott putting the ball at the Purdue 8 with 16 seconds remaining in the game. The Boilermakers fumbled and lost the ball on the next play sealing the Fighting Irish's victory.
It was Te'o's second start for the Irish, according to school statistics. Te'o, who is 6 feet 2 and 244 pounds, also was a starter against Michigan.
