Olympics: Pele, Cielo back Rio bid for 2016 Games

Associated Press

COPENHAGEN — Brazilian soccer great Pele and Olympic champion swimmer Cesar Cielo are asking the IOC to change the lives of Brazilian youngsters by awarding the 2016 Olympics to Rio de Janeiro.

Pele says sport changed his life and an Olympics in Rio would do the same for others. Cielo says bringing the games to Rio could benefit all of South America.
Cielo won two gold medals at last year’s Beijing Games after studying at Auburn University.
The International Olympic Committee will vote Friday on whether Rio, Chicago, Madrid or Tokyo will host the 2016 games.
