Advertiser Staff

A 39-year-old man who was arrested Monday in connection with a stabbing at Kapi'olani Park was released yesterday without charges.

Kevin K. Fish was arrested Monday afternoon on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder. He also was booked on three drug-related charges.

But late yesterday, Fish was released pending further investigation. It was not immediately known why he was released from custody.

Earlier yesterday, police and CrimeStoppers issued a bulletin seeking the public's help in finding the man responsible for the stabbing.

Police described the suspect as in his 30s, 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 8, 170 to 180 pounds with short brown hair. The attacker had a tan complexion and was clean-shaven. He was wearing an aloha shirt with white and tan print, and brown shorts, police said.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.

Police said that at about 4:40 p.m. Monday, a man stabbed a 43-year-old man who was asleep on a bench near the Kapi'olani Park Bandstand.

The man was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition.
