History comes to life at free Mission Houses lecture
"Bringing History to Life" will be the topic of this month's free Historic Bites lecture, noon April 6 at Mission Houses Museum.
The first historic house museums in the United States opened to the public in the mid-19th century. Join senior curator Elizabeth Nosek as she discusses the history of these national treasures, both on the mainland and here in Hawai'i.
Local houses being discussed will include the Mission Houses Museum, Queen Emma Summer Palace and the Lyman House in Hilo.
The event will be at Mission Houses Museum's Chamberlain House Kitchen, at 553 S. King St. Participants are encouraged to bring a bag lunch or purchase something from the Museum Café and Tea Parlor on museum grounds. Details: 447-3910.
