Uses of traditional Hawaiian objects topic of Bishop Museum talk

Cultural specialist Nanette Napoleon will discuss the contemporary uses of Hawaiian objects, including gourds, jewelry, weaponry and other pieces during a talk at 6 p.m. April 15, Thursday, at the Bishop Museum's Atherton Halau.

Coast is $5; free for members. After her talk, guest artisans will demonstrate their crafts. They include Umi Kai and Richard Paglinawan (weaponry); Tammy Tavares (gourdwork) and Noa Napoleon (koa jewelry). For more information, call 847-8296.
