Rescue crews on Kauai have identified the missing hiker as Ryan Soper, a 26-year-old Orem, Utah man who officials have been searching for since Thursday.

Rescue workers are utilizing a two-pronged approach as they begin day four of their search Roper who went missing in the Wailua Valley Thursday.

Soper is five feet ten inches and weighs about 240 pounds. He has short blond hair, blue eyes, a fair complexion and a large build, according to Kauai officials.

Soper was last seen wearing a black Under Armor shirt with long sleeves and a pair of black and white board shorts.

Anyone with information about Soper is asked to called Police Dispatch at 241-1711 or Crime Stoppers, 241-1887.

Spokeswoman Mary Daubert said rescue specialists from the Lihue fire station, fire fighters from the Koloa and Waimea stations, DLNR personnel, and a canine search team split into two groups to resume the search after meeting at the command post near the Wailua River boat ramp at 8 a.m. Sunday.

One team is searching in the upper end of the valley, while the other is combing the area above Wailua Falls in former sugar cane land.
