AP's No. 1 Kentucky Derby contender: Pletcher's Eskendereya

NEW YORK — Todd Pletcher has three of the top 10 contenders on The Associated Press final list of Kentucky Derby prospects, including No. 1 pick and expected favorite Eskendereya.

By the time the race rolls around in less than two weeks, the trainer seeking his first Derby win could have a record six horses in the 20-horse field.

Wood Memorial winner Eskendereya (es-ken-DRAY-uh) retains the top spot following the results of the Lexington Stakes at Keeneland. The Lexington was won by another Pletcher trained 3-year-old, Exhi, at odds of 20-1. The results did not affect this week's rankings.

Pletcher's other top-10 horses are No. 5 Super Saver and No. 7 Mission Impazible. His other Derby contenders include Discreetly Mine, Interactif and Rule.
