Two men accused of murdering a 24-year-old man over an alleged drug debt appeared in District Court this morning and were ordered held in lieu of $1 million bail.

Joshua Williams, 25, of a Hooko Place address in Makakilo, and Michael Shawn Connolly, 29, of an Alapoai Place address in Mililani, said nothing during a brief proceeding before District Judge Colette Garibaldi.

They are each charged with second-degree murder in the death of Jamil Khan earlier this month.

Williams is also charged with first-degree promotion of marijuana, third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia and arson.

Garibaldi ordered the men to appear at a preliminary court hearing the afternoon of April 22.

According to a police affidavit filed in the case, Khan was beaten with a hammer and had his throat slashed by the defendants because they believed he had cheated them out of thousands of dollars in illegal drug money.

Khan's body has not been recovered.

The victim hasn't been seen since the evening of April 7 when he told family members he was going to visit a friend in Ewa Beach.

Khan's Isuzu Rodeo, gutted by fire, was found April 14 in Waipahu.

A witness told police that Williams admitted cutting Khan's throat after Connolly struck the victim in the chest with a hammer, according to court allegations.

Williams had operated a large indoor marijuana-growing operation at his home for about two years, the police affidavit said.
