Wendy Calio — known to the preschool set as Nina on Disney's "Imagination Movers" series — is back home in the Islands and opening a new performing arts studio next month. Grand-opening festivities for Pas De Deux will be May 1 at its studio in Waipahu, near the Filipino Community Center. Activities include a free dance class for ages 5 through 8 by Calio, 9 to 10 a.m., followed by an autograph signing.

Calio, a Wahiawā native, has been teaching dance for more than 15 years and has Broadway, television and film experience. Classes in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, hula, voice, modeling and musical theater will be offered for ages 3 and older. Tuition starts at $50 monthly; 671-0350, www.pasdedeuxhawaii.com.
