Knife-point robbery reported in Aiea

Advertiser Staff

Police are looking for a man in his 20s after a 21-year-old man reported being robbed at knife-point early this morning in Aiea.

The man who filed the complaint said he was at a party and decided to leave when the other man asked for a ride.

The man told police that as they were driving away, the passenger who had asked for a ride noticed the driver's iPod and necklace in the center console and told him he was going to take them.

The driver told police he asked the passenger not to disrespect him, at which point the other man pulled out a knife and took the two items.

The driver said the passenger pointed the knife at him and ordered him to keep driving up the street while threatening to injure him if he did not comply.

The driver told police he kept going until the passenger told him to stop and got out of the car, at which point the driver called police.

The driver told the other man he had called police, leading him to drop the iPod and necklace and run to a sport utility vehicle which drove away from the area.

Police said the man who filed the report recovered the items that were taken from him before officers arrived.

There were no injuries in during the incident which was classified as a first-degree robbery.
