Spring is abuzz with free and discounted activities.

• Saturday, of course, is Lei Day at Kapi'olani Park; there'll be lots of entertainment and crafts both Saturday and Sunday; http://honolulu.gov/parks/programs/leiday.

• On the Big Island, it's also time to celebrate Lei Day on Saturday at Hilo's Kalākaua Park (www.leiday.net) and Volcano Art Center's Niaulani campus (http://www.volcanoartcenter.org); both are free. Find out more at http://bigislandonthecheap.com.

•  There's a special kama'āina rate right now to swim with the sea lions or explore the Hawaiian reef tank at Sea Life Park (through June 20, either is $49, including lunch and access to the park); www.sealifeparkhawaii.com.

• At http://www.HonoluluOnTheCheap.com, we've posted a roundup of several free and cheap botanical gardens on O'ahu. Enjoy!
