Kokua Fest fans take on beach cleanups

Advertiser Staff

Four “Love Your Beach” cleanups are set for 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. tomorrow.
Participants will get a presale code that can be used when purchasing two Kökua Festival tickets. In addition, they will be entered in a drawing for two free tickets to the festival and other prizes.

This year’s festival lineup includes Jack Johnson, Ziggy Marley, Jake Shimabukuro and Anuhea.
Three of the cleanups will be on Oahu. The Surfrider Foundation will be hosting two — one at Sand Island Park and one at Mälaekahana State Park. The third, hosted by Kanu Hawaiçi and state Rep. Maile Shimabukuro, will be at Keaçau Beach Park.
A fourth cleanup will be held on Maui at the Kahului Harbor Park.
Participants should bring reusable plastic bottles, a pair of gardening gloves, a sifter (if you have one), sun screen and any plastic shopping bags you have at home.
Kökua Festival presale tickets will be accessible only through Star1019.com from 9 a.m. Sunday to 11:59 p.m. Monday. The festival is scheduled for April 23 and 24.
