State Farm Insurance recently presented the Hawaii HomeOwnership Center with a $12,000 donation to help increase the number of low- to moderate-income first-time home buyers in Hawai'i. The center has served more than 5,000 families and helped more than 620 families purchase their first home.

PEARL HARBOR SHIPYARD DONATES $657,245

Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard workers held a charity drive from Sept. 1 to Dec. 15, raising $657,245 for the Combined Federal Campaign, an annual fundraiser throughout the federal government.

Donations help support more than 4,000 local, national and international charities. The donation earned the shipyard "silver" status at the campaign recognition luncheon at the Hale Koa Hotel on Jan. 21.

The FilCom Center will hold its annual Filipino Fiesta on May 8 at Kapi'olani Park. DAMIEN SCHOOL OFFERING HOT MALASSADAS

Damien Memorial School will hold its second annual "Fat Tuesday" Malassada Sale on Tuesday from 6:30 to 11 a.m. at the school parking lot, 1401 Houghtailing St. The malassadas will cost $5 for a half dozen and $10 for a baker's dozen.
