Maj. Gen. Bernard Champoux assumed command of the 25th “Tropic Lightning” Infantry Division this morning in a ceremony at Schofield Barracks’ Sills Field.

Champoux succeeds Maj. Gen. Robert Caslen, who led the 25th on a 12-month deployment for northern Iraq.
Caslen has been confirmed for promotion to the rank of lieutenant general and is scheduled to assume command of the Army Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., later this year.
Champoux previously served in Washington, D.C., as chief legislative liaison for the Secretary of the Army.
