Baseball Rainbows beat Oregon again, 2-1

Advertiser Staff

Matt Sisto and two relievers combined on a three-hitter and Hawai‘i beat No. 25 Oregon, 2-1, tonight to take the second game of the four-game series before 2,075 at Les Murakami Stadium.

Sisto (1-1) went six innings, allowing an unearned run, three hits and three walks with one strikeout for UH (3-3). Alex Capaul pitched two scoreless innings and Lenny Linsky allowed a lead-off single in scoreless ninth to notch his second save in as many games.

Justin LaTempa (0-1) went six-plus innings, allowing two runs, six hits and two walks with six strikeouts for the Ducks (3-3).

Freshman Breland Almadova led off the bottom of the first with an opposite-field home run to right off LaTempa to give UH a 1-0 lead. It was Almadova’s first career extra-base hit with UH.
The Ducks tied it in the top of the third. With two out, Curtis Raulinaitis walked and scored on Sisto’s three-base throwing error after fielding a dribbler off the bat off K.C. Serna.
Hawai‘i regained the lead in the bottom of the third when Sean Montplaisir singled with one out, went to second on Almadova’s sacrifice and scored on Greg Garcia’s double to right-center.
