Couples to make debut as senior
Next weekend, as the Sony Open in Hawai'i concludes, the seniors will be playing the 23rd Wendy's Champions Skins Game at the Royal Ka'anapali course on Maui. Fred Couples will make his senior debut in the exhibition, teaming with Nick Price, also in his first senior skins game.
Ben Crenshaw and Fuzzy Zoeller will defend the title they won last year at Ka'anapali. Hall of Fame members Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson will partner for the fifth straight year. Loren Roberts teams with Gary Player.
The format will again be alternate-shot. Golfers play nine holes each day, with ESPN delaying the broadcast until Feb. 27 and 28.
The first six holes are worth $30,000 each, the next six $40,000 each and the next five $50,000 each. The 18th hole is worth $100,000. Money carries over if no team wins the hole outright. Players donate 10 percent of their earnings to charity.
