Relief is on the way, but not before another hazy day

Advertiser Staff

The volcanic haze from the Big Island that settled on Honolulu today will continue to drift across Oahu throughout Sunday.

“Usually we get that when we have southerly to southwesterly winds, and that’s what we have right now,” said National Weather Service forecaster Ian Morrison.
Kauai might be spared on Sunday, but the other islands will remain under the haze.
But winds are expected to turn northerly by Sunday night, offering relief.
“That should clear out most of the haze,” he said.
Until then, the forecast calls for widespread haze under partly cloudy skies, westward winds between 9 and 13 mph, and temperatures reaching 81 on Sunday afternoon.
