Teen still in critical condition after getting hit by vehicle in Liliha

Advertiser Staff

A teenage boy remained in critical condition Friday morning at The Queen's Medical Center after being struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon near the intersection of Liliha and Kuakini streets.

Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department, said paramedics were sent to the area fronting L&L Drive-Inn shortly before 4:30 p.m.
They treated a boy, who appeared to be in his early teens, and transported him to a trauma center, Cheplic said.
He was listed in serious condition upon leaving the accident scene, but his condition later worsened, police said.
Details were not immediately available. Police vehicular homicide investigators did not go to the accident site because the boy’s condition had not worsened to critical until after he reached the hospital, police said.
