Get into art and rhythm today with world music

Advertiser Staff

Second Saturday at the Hawai‘i State Art Museum will feature “Asia Pacific Art Rhythms,” world music ensembles from the University of Hawai'i’s ethnomusicology program. Performers will offer pointers on how to play various instruments at the event, 11 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Also, have fun with art fundamentals in the museum’s hands-on I Love Art Gallery. Visitors of all ages can tinker with line, shape, form, space and texture. The gallery’s offerings are tied to objects currently on view at the museum.
The museum is in the No. 1 Capitol District Building, 250 S. Hotel St., across from the state Capitol and çIolani Palace. It’s open today, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; admission is always free. For more information, call 586-0900 or 586-0305, or visit www.hawaii.gov/sfca.
