Advertiser Staff

The city’s Emergency Medical Division’s 2nd emergency medical technician recruit class will graduate tonight at a ceremony at the Ala Wai Golf Course Main Ballroom from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The Honolulu Emergency Services Department said 14 recruits completed 23 weeks of training and are now certified to the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians level.

The recruits also received their state licensure that included weeks of training in basic lifesaving skills, clinical skills, emergency ambulance driving as well as participating in multi-agency drills.

“Ensuring the safety of our community has always been a priority of the city,” said Mayor Mufi Hannemann in a statement. “These new recruits will help us maintain the high level of care provided to both residents and visitors alike.”

The graduates will report to their new assignments beginning Sunday.
