SustainableUH is a new organization aimed at helping establish University of Hawai'i-Mänoa as a world leader in sustainable education, research and practices, by facilitating community events and providing "student-power" for energy audits, waste audits and other green work force projects throughout the 10-campus system.

Current goals include making the UH Richardson School of Law the greenest law school in the nation and helping Honolulu Community College save on its energy costs.

STAY ORGANIZED AND ECO-FRIENDLY

Nahui Ollin of Mexico has designed a day planner aimed at those who have decided to make 2010 a greener, more organized year.

Nahui Ollin designer Olga Abadi uses an ancient Mayan binding technique to turn defective candy wrappers into eco-fashion instead of trash. Known for its handbags and accessories, Nahui Ollin now has a line of one-of-a-kind day planners.

Mini planners start at about $35 online, while the full-size organizers like this one are $60. For more information, visit www.NahuiOllin.com.
