Police arrest Waikiki man in connection with woman's death

Advertiser Staff

Police had a 44-year-old Waikiki man in custody in connection with the beating death of a 33-year-old Honolulu woman.

Kevin H. Dale, of an Ala Wai Boulevard address, was arrested at 2:20 p.m. Monday in connection with the death of Christi Hokoana.
Police said patrol officers were sent to an apartment in Waikiki about 4 p.m. Jan. 9 in response to a report that a woman there was unresponsive.
City paramedics treated the woman and took her to The Queen’s Medical Center, where her condition deteriorated, police said.
Police said the doctor at Queen’s in charge of Hokoana’s care felt that her injuries were not consistent with a witness’ account of what happened to her, so he called police on Jan. 11.
Hokoana died at Queen’s Friday and an autopsy was performed on Sunday, police said.
The city Department of the Medical Examiner concluded that Hokoana died of blunt force injuries to the head.
Police did not say what the relationship was, if any, between Dale and Hokoana.
