Arizona Memorial boats out of service next week
HONOLULU ó The National Park Service says boats at the USS Arizona Memorial wonít be operating for most of next week because of construction work on the boat docks.
The boats will be out of service from Monday through Friday.
The park service said Thursday the visitorís centerís movie theater, museum, bookstore and exhibit panels will still be accessible. Visitors may also go on audio tours.
The boats normally leave for the memorial from docks at the visitorís center but construction crews have been moving the docks as they build a new visitorís center.
The current center is too small for the number of people who visit. It was also built on reclaimed land and is sinking.
The new $58 million center will be three times larger. Itís expected to be finished by Dec. 7.
