Waianae woman dies after being run over in Nanakuli drive-thru

A 20-year-old woman has died after she was run over after confronting a man who was honking his horn at her car while waiting at a Nanakuli drive-thru restaurant in the Nanakuli Shopping Center early this morning, police said.

The woman, of Waianae, and a teenage girl, of Makakilo, were taken by paramedics to The Queen's Medical Center. The teenager was reported to be in stable condition, but the woman later died, said Bryan Cheplic, Honolulu Emergency Services Department spokesman.
The incident is believed to have occurred at 3 a.m. at the McDonald's drive-thru, Cheplic said. The drive-thru is open 24 hours.
McDonald's has closed the drive-thru for the remainder of today and will determine tomorrow at what time it will reopen, said Franklin Clay, a McDonald's media relations agent.
Police say that the two females got out of their car and then were run over at the drive-thru. The vehicle fled the scene, but police later located the car and arrested a 36-year-old Honolulu man for two counts of attempted murder, although that may be upgraded, police said. In addition, the man was arrested for DUI and for an open container.
The women have not been identified.
