I am super fortunate again

Kahuku High alum Aaron Francisco, a safety for the Indianapolis Colts, will again provide his insight to the Super Bowl. Francisco wrote a journal for The Advertiser last year when he played for the Arizona Cardinals. He was signed by the Colts as a free agent in September.

What are the odds of going to the Super Bowl two years in a row on different NFL teams? I have no clue, but my guess would be slim to none. I think it's safe to say that I have defied those odds. So now I'm thinking, I'm either the luckiest guy in the NFL or the smartest.

After being released from the Arizona Cardinals unexpectedly just before the season began, I felt as though it was the worst thing that could have happened to me. In fact, it was the best.

After weighing the options on where to play, my agent, Max Hannemann, and I decided to go with the Indianapolis Colts for two reasons. One, we felt I had a better shot playing there than anywhere else. And two, they have a great quarterback and everybody knows you don't make it to the Super Bowl without a great quarterback.

Lucky or not, I sure did make the best of my situation. Not only did we start off the season 14-0, but we even got to go to Arizona and whoop up on my former team 31-10. Sweet revenge!

I remember thinking last year how playing in the Super Bowl could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but here I am Super Bowl-bound again.

It's not often you get a second chance at anything in life, let alone a Super Bowl. But I am determined to make the most of it. Come Monday I will be on my way back to Florida as the only player given a chance to redeem a loss at Super Bowl XLIII. Only one thing can top last year's experience ... a Super Bowl XLIV championship ring on my finger!

Aloha from Indy!
