Learn 'Folk Art of Chinese Paper Cutting' at Two Public Libraries
Barbara Chung Ho will be a featured artist for the 2010 HSPLS Children's Summer Reading Program at two selected public libraries on the island of Hawaii and Kauai in June 2010. Admission is free.
Chung Ho will present "The Folk Art of Chinese Paper Cutting," an interactive and customized workshop, in celebration of this year's summer reading program. Chung Ho will share a brief history of the folk art, and then conduct a step-by-step demonstration on the basic techniques of Chinese paper cutting.
This one-hour workshop is suitable for ages 8 and older. Supplies will be provided.

June 9, 3 p.m. Kailua-Kona Public Library (75-138 Hualalai Road; telephone: 327-4327). Registration is recommended; please call the Library to register.
June 28, 6:30 p.m. Waimea Public Library (Kauai: 9750 Kaumualii Highway; telephone: 338-6848). This workshop is limited to 25 participants. Registration is required; please call the Library to register.
This 2010 HSPLS summer reading program workshop is funded by a generous grant from the Friends of the Library of Hawaii, Marriott Resorts Hawaii, Ko Olina Resort and Marina, HMSHost, Meadow Gold Dairies, Hansen Foodservice, The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, Hawaiian Telcom, the UH-Manoa Outreach College's Statewide Cultural Extension Program, and funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts and the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.
