Celebrate National Fishing Week today at the annual Keiki Fishing Derby in Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden.

Kids in three age categories (4-7, 8-12 and 13-17) will compete to haul in the longest fish, the most Midas cichlids, and the most unusual catch.

Bring hand-held poles, barbless hooks and non-live bait plus walking shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen, water and a bag lunch to this catch-and-release event, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Kane'ohe garden. Pets are not permitted, but kids should bring a grown-up.

The pond will be stocked with small-mouth bass, catfish, red devil and tilapia. For additional information, call 233-7323.
