Minnesota woman, 64, dies of injuries from bike crash

A Minnesota woman who lost control of her bicycle during a downhill cycling tour on Haleakalā last week has died, the Maui News reported.

Karen Narveson, 64, of Mankato, suffered head injuries after she crashed into an embankment on the north shoulder of Baldwin Avenue below the Maui Veterans Cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Feb. 23, police said.

Narveson died the next day at Maui Memorial Medical Center.

Police said she was wearing a helmet.

The Free Press newspaper in Mankato reported that Narveson was vacationing with her husband, Al, and several other couples.
