Sewage spills in Aiea Heights

Advertiser Staff

About 3,000 gallons of raw sewage have spilled in Aiea Heights, the city’s Department of Environmental Services said today.

The city crews noticed the spill Thursday morning during scheduled maintenance in the area.
Tree roots clogged an 8-inch pipe on Inea Place and sewage spilled out of a manhole and down a ridge. The city said there is no public access to the ridge and the sewage didn’t reach any body of water.
The state Health Department has been notified and the area has been cleaned, the city said.
