Pearl City woman suspected of setting her own house on fire

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu police arrested a Pearl City woman Saturday on suspicion that she intentionally set her own house on fire.

The arrest of Alexandra Wilkinson came hours after the 12:55 a.m. blaze at 2325 Akepa St. in the Pacific Palisades subdivision.
Investigators with the Honolulu Fire Department determined that the blaze had been intentionally started, and District 3 police said Wilkinson, who was in the unit when the fire broke out Saturday, was arrested on suspicion of arson.
Wilkinson is one of two people who live at the unit, authorities said.
Fire officials said the fire originated in a bedroom of the three-story, split-level home.
Firefighters, who arrived on the scene at around 1 a.m., reported that they found smoldering, combustible items stored in the bedroom. The fire, which was extinguished at 1:32 a.m. was contained to the bedroom, said fire officials. No injuries were reported.
Damage to the building was estimated at $5,000, while damage to the contents was put at $500, fire officials said.
