Sophie Kobuch, a University of Hawai‘i senior, has been named Western Athletic Conference women's tennis player of the week for the first time this season and the third time in her career, the conference announced today.

Kobuch, of Tournefeuille, France, went 2-0 in No. 1 singles and 2-0 in No. 1 doubles in Hawai‘i's wins over Air Force and Lewis & Clark, snapping a three-match losing skid. She defeated Christen Monreal of Air Force and Amalia Nilsson of Lewis & Clark in straight sets. She teamed with Katarina Poljakova to beat Air Force's Allie Chermel and Tahlia Smoke, and Lisa Harunaga and Whitney DeBree of LCSC. In the victory over Air Force, Kobuch and Poljakova came back from down 6-2 to win 8-6 and clinch the doubles point for the Rainbow Wahine (4-11).
