HPU cheer and dance squads to hold nationals preview Sunday

Advertiser Staff

The Hawai‘i Pacific University cheer and dance teams will be previewing their routines for the nationals Sunday at Moanalua High School gym.

Donations will be accepted at the 4 p.m. preview to help defray travel costs to the nationals in Daytona Beach, Fla., next month.
HPU's large co-ed cheer team is the seven-time defending national champions (2003-09). The small co-ed team has won four national titles (2005-08) and the all-girl team won its first title last year. The HPU dance team has won five championships, including four in a row (2004, 2006-2009).
Sunday's preview will include performances from all the squads, including partner and group stunts and Sharky the Sea Warrior, HPU's mascot.
Cheer and dance organizations Cheer 808 and Studio 808 also will perform.
