Oahu crew advances in MTV competition

Advertiser Staff

Hype 5-0, the first hip-hop crew selected to represent Hawaii in MTV’s “Randy Jackson Presents: America's Best Dance Crew” last night secured one of the show’s three final spots in an ongoing national competition.

Next Thursday, the seven-member Oahu crew will dance against Blueprint Cru of Montreal, and Poreotics, of Orange County, Calif. While Hype 5-0 and Blueprint Cru are essentially dance/choreography crews, Poreotics' style has a robotic/tuttering/popping base.
At the end of the show, which will air at 10 p.m. Hawaii time, one crew in the hunt for the $100,000 top prize is slated to be eliminated from the competition.
Fans will be encouraged to vote for their favorite crew. During the show, hosts will provide phone numbers and other information about voting, which will be under way for a short period.

Hype 5-0 includes: Josh "Hazmat" Ulep, 22, of Wailua; Brittnie Aguilar, 18, of Mililani; Casey Kalahiki, 23, of Honolulu; Marc "Dueynutz" Duey, 21, of Kapolei; Jonathan "Ramones" Ramones, 18, of Ewa; William "Nessy" Soares III, 19, of Honolulu; and Allen-Charles "Brain" Pascual, 26, of Ewa.
